Corporate Social Responsibility
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is an approach to sustainable development, whereby companies integrate economic, social and environmental concerns into their culture, strategy and actions and in the interaction with their stakeholders on a voluntary basis, beyond the legal rules.
CEEP’s working group on CSR is very active in the European Commission’s working group and participated in many of the colloquiums and seminars organised by the Presidencies, the Commission or other European CSR stakeholders. The working group also debated on CSR in enterprises with public service missions and gave an opinion on the Commission’s communication on CSR that was published in June 2006.
On top of collaborating with European institutions to promote CSR (including socially responsible investments, production and consumption) in European Public SMEs, CEEP has since 2005 launched 2 projects, “Discerno” and “Discerno II”(on-going project) to carry out the task of disseminating and encouraging CSR through good practices to enterprises and companies of all sizes with missions of services of general interest, and to support these companies in taking into account CSR principles into their daily management choices.
