Sustainable tourism
CEEP with expert members within its Committees such as the LEC, Environment and Transport formed a permanent Working Group who are continuously taking proactive initiatives in relation to European institutions.
In 2004, the Platform for Sustainable Tourism was created by CEEP and its members, mainly from local public enterprises in the fields of tourism includes; culture, sports and associated European-wide events, as well as other actors such as local and regional SME’s and other companies in the fields of, for instance, transport and culture who are participating and are welcome, as they all share the same values of sustainable development, employment, growth and the need to enhance the European work to improve the conditions for this booming industry.
Since 2004, CEEP has arranged annual European conferences on these subjects.
The first one took place in Deauville, France where a first general Declaration was adopted.
The second annual conference was held in Gothenburg, Sweden. The Declaration paid particular attention to Sustainable environmental concerns.
The third annual conference took place in Bergisch-Gladbach, Germany on 27 and 28 November 2006 that gathered around 100 actors in the field of sustainable tourism. The subject was notably training and education in the professions and achievements to have skilled workers in the enterprises. The Declaration on 12 January 2007 also includes guidelines to the forthcoming activities.
